So many people get it completely wrong when it comes to selecting products to sell on Amazon. If you make the mistake of entering the wrong market, you’ll end up feeling like you’re always pushing a boulder uphill.

Here is what the product launch cycle looks like for most people:

1. Pick a product

2. Get your branding and packaging perfect

3. Meet the MOQ requirements

4. Create the perfect Amazon listing

5. Cross your fingers and hope it works!

Using this approach, you have to be right because if you’re not, you’ll be out a tremendous amount of time and money.

Instead, we use a process called Wide vs. Deep. This means that we test wide before going deep. It looks like this:

1. Pick several products that you think might sell well on Amazon

2. Buy 10 units of each in plain packaging

3. Build your listing quickly using stock photos or the manufacturer’s photos

4. Turn on a low bid, small budget PPC campaign

5. See which product starts selling the best

6. Cut the losers and build a brand around the winner!

This Wide vs. Deep process allows you to identify markets with certainty that is not oversaturated with too much smart competition. When you find markets where you can produce sales without a launch, without any reviews, and without spending thousands on a perfect listing, then you know you have found an opportunity worth the effort!
